native american ceremony

Went to my first native american ceremony. My girlfriend is having a ball as my tour guide to all kinds of spiritual stuff. Its been a lot of fun. Before dating her I had no idea so much stuff was out there to go to. She is awesome in so many ways. Having a tour guide is a big bonus.

So anyways there was three different medicine women. When we first showed up one of them was giving blessings. So when it was my turn she gave me one. She gave me some wonderful insights. She was awesome.

Then we walked over and made a circle sitting on the ground. The energy was powerful. It felt beautiful. For some reason my eyes wouldn't stop crying so I kind of hid it the best I could. It was an emotional healing going on with me. Something was clearing.

One of the medicine woman told the story about the white buffalo woman. Then she had a special pipe that she got out. The pipe went around the circle. When each of us had it we talked. Prayers and personal stuff about our journey. Then we either passed it to the next person. Or smoked it and passed it. When it came my turn I talked about my vision i had and how I have changed from it. And preyed for good things for the planet, us, and the animals. I smoked it and passed it to the person to my left. It was a beautiful experience!

Everyone was really nice and it was okay we all had different spiritual experiences What I mean is everyone felt very accepting of each other. It was a beautiful experience!

Afterwards we all got up to go have some food. I decided to sit on a rock and take it all in. The medicine woman with the pipe came up to me and started talking. She was very nice and was interesting to listen to. When she was done she gave me a piece of a broken pipe. Or something to do with making a pipe. Cause it is made out of a very heavy stone. Its a piece where its bored out like a circle. Its small but you can feel it has a lot of power in it. So much energy. I feel very lucky. And this was the best thing I have gone to.

They don't have a lot of events cause most of them are for women. But whenever they have one I can go to I will definitely be going if I'm in the area. Or able to take time off for it.

Yeah she's awesome. And we compliment each other in the physical and spiritual. I'm strong at feeling and bringing in energy. She is very strong intuitively and seeing. So we are always helping each other out. Its a win, win situation. Lol

Hi it sounds like you took part in the 'Pipe Ceremony'.. The pipe for this is in two parts and is only assembled by the owner ritually for this ceremony.. The pipe bowl is larger, for this would be a 'Peoples pipe, usually it is made from' Pipe stoned' a hard red stone that can be worked and carved... You will have had the pipe passed to you and it is passed in the same direction round to each in turn until it is smoked completely.. The smoke rising is a prayer...

I too have taken part in this ceremony several times... I do not own a 'Peoples Pipe' just a smaller 'Personal Pipe'...
The fragment of stone you were given is probably red pipe stone...

I am so glad you felt the connection ..

You are very welcome. Also the ashes from the pipe are saved and given back to the earth by making a small hole at the foot of a tree and then covered over with earth.

Hi, Running. That is fabulous you got to experience that!

The Pipe ceremony has so many teachings and so many ways to heal and conduct communion with the Spirit world.

Next time you get a chance, ask about the story about White Buffalo Calf Woman bringing the Pipe to the people. It's very touching and powerful, and also refers to the rightful equal role women have in our communities. That role got eroded through years of colonization and internalized patriarchy, but some of our Women Elders and teachers are reminding our peoples that women have an equally important role in our communities and ceremonies as do the men.

Like many Indigenous stories and teachings, the story probably has slight differences depending on who tells it, but the main idea will likely always be the same. I heard the story from a Lakota Elder, Arvol Looking Horse, when he came to my part of the world a few years back. The story is very strong medicine!

Here is a link to a website on him: http://arvollookinghorse.homestead.c..._bio_2001.html

One of my local Lakota Elders actually got to visit Chief Looking Horse and hold this sacred Pipe from White Buffalo Calf Woman - wow!!!

Thanks for the link. And yes she told the story! In the experience of channeling. I have a part of me or a being in the spirit that has a pipe. Inside the pipe contains the universe he said. I wonder if that's a representive of his perspective or a particular tribe. Always wondered if the pipe represents the universe. He calls himself no name. Says he doesn't have a name. So everyone calls him no name. He likes the idea of having no name and no age. But he has an identity it seemed talking to him. He has been a great help from the little I spoke to him.

I think I first felt him when I was a child about eight. I suppose. I remember thinking wow. If only I had no name and age. I would laugh and laugh at the idea. Interesting looking back. I used to think of that off and on. Always made me feel good and laughter. Lol
