Hi Cook93. The first thing you need to think about is that wicca originated in Britain, and wicca in the UK is not the same as US wicca.
Second thing to be aware of is that wicca is an off-shoot of the ancient faith of Britain which is still going strong.
Like many, I originally was wicca but soon reverted to the more primitive, ancient form.
You mention feminism and environmentalism - those are issues with US wicca, not UK.
I would be interested in knowing what background you think you have, I suspect it will be of US wicca.
"Wicca was allowed to flourish during the 1960's because many of the beliefs of Wicca (such as feminism and environmentalism) were shared by the countercultural movement."
Wicca originated with the repeal of the Witchcraft Acts in Britain in the 1950's.
Give me a shout if you would like more info but bear in mind, this is a subject that can get rather heated. It has been argued out several times in the wicca thread, I would suggest that you back-read.
You cannot research wicca without researching it's antecedents and the national culture in which it originated.
