My difficulties lie mainly in my geographical location...I am in a small seaside town in the UK with little exposure to more worldly faiths and practices, so I am unable to talk to anyone physically.

Buddhism teaches to see the positive in everything and express gratitude for it. You are in a seaside town, and in my experience, meditating in the seashore is a superb experience and promotes faster progress. This is because the prana or chi in the seashore is very high, and this boosts your meditation as well for the better.

This is a major positive in your favor.

To see the dawn or dusk in the seashore in a state of mindfulness is truly a very sweet experience.

I am feeling incredibly overwhelmed by barriers at the moment, so any help in removing them would be very welcome.

I know of a person who walked this path alone. He researched, studied good books and consulted spiritual teachers to clarify points.

Eventually he came to the conviction that mindfulness is the natural state, and precisely abided in this state without a break for six months while doing his professional work as a pharmacist at the same time.

At the end of six months, he attained Nirvana or enlightenment and is in a totally ecstatic state ever since.

While talking with him , he emphasized the point that he did not belong to any spiritual or religious organisation. He researched spirituality, applied meticulously what he learnt and attained Nirvana and became a Buddha himself.

From his statement, I believe this is true for everyone as well.

Just as in the material world, in spirituality too, success is determined by the quality of one's study and work habits.
