Question Tarot books for learning

Hey all I'm fairly new to the site and I have a question for anybody with any information I've just started my journey into the study of tarot and I have been reading up on as much as I can to get better and been practicing simple spreads. I just got done reading The Complete Guide to Tarot: Determine your destiny! Predict Your own Future! by Eden Gray. Not bad read at all I really disliked the small print but overall very helpful. I'm just wondering what books you all have read that have helped you learn tarot. Any readings you all have also enjoyed will also be looked into thank you all for any feedback!

Books, like tarot decks, can be subjective and can depend on what you're wanting to take from the book. I have a number of books, some I love, others I've started and just though 'nope' and put away.

I definitely recommend 21 ways to read a tarot card by Mary K Greer, each exercise has 2 levels, Novice and Adept.

Tarot 101 by Kim Huggens has journal prompts for each card and plenty of info on each one.

Holistic Tarot by Benebell Wen is amazing (don't be put off by its epic size). She has extra downloads on her website too, including study guides for beginner, intermediate and advanced. These study guides outline which chapters of the book you need to study and in which order so it becomes like a self guided course.

There are many others out there, but for starting out, I think these 3 are probably the ones that give you the best understanding of your cards.

One word of advice, whoever the author is, you are reading their opinion of the cards. Be open to what you feel your cards are conveying, even if it doesn't match what your book tells you.

The book for me that started making sense was 'Tarot Revealed' by Paul Fenton Smith; after that I moved onto biddytarot (online) then Tarot Lady (also online).

Definitely agree with the above that everything is subjective; it's also a matter of style. It's like finding a French Teacher - 'good' is whatever works best for you :)

Hi
Tarot Plain and simple by Anthony Louis is a good basic text. He also did The Llewellyn's Complete Book of Tarot. I find Mary Greers Tarot reversals useful. For something more advanced The Crowley Book of Thoth is difficult but rewarding.

I have a few different books on tarot and I've also researched a bit through the interwebs on the meanings of the cards. A lot of times I would end up getting confused on all the different interpretations people have on them. I started looking at a card or two a day writing down what I felt it meant and then looked up the meanings afterwards to see how it matched up. Its really been getting my intuition stronger doing it this way.

I never used a tarot book to learn, it was mostly through experience. I have heard about Holistic Tarot, heard that is a good one, I think I am going to look it up for variety of spreads etc.
