Imo god isn't materialistic. Or a person for that matter. Gods is blissful. Feeling blissful is possible in all conditions. I'm not enlightened but even I am always intoxicated. Not that i dont have preferences. Im only saying i always feel it. So i believe god is unconditional.
I have heard the logic is from when we had kings and queens. Acting in accordance to there culture made them like you. Making your life better. Many still hold onto the idea of god being like a king.

The same logic might apply to being in God's favour. I'm sure being good is the perceived requirement to god's unconditional love but if that is the case, it's not unconditional. How does god show unconditional love?

God does not love unconditionally.
God IS unconditional Love.
Whether or not one can 'see it' is not relevant in determining what is.

From what I understand its like anything else. You have to find it. When it is unconditional you know its the real thing

From what I have seen. If you believe there are requirements of conduct or anything else for that matter there will be. The love comes from you. I don't have such requirements therefore its unconditional. That goes for anyone else. Its up to them. Do you want it to be unconditional or not. That's the real question Imo.

Sorry, I was agreeing with you and questioning the idea you put forward. I don't subscribe either and wonder how anyone can when God is supposed to be loving.
