Insight? Dream or not?

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone would be able to give some insight into this? I often remember my dreams and jumping from one to the other. Sometimes I jump from a dream to "nothingness". In this state everything is black and it's completely silent. I feel nothing and have no awareness of where I am, as if my mind and consciousness is completely still. I never really thought much about it until a few nights ago.

While I was in this "nothingness" I heard someone call out to me, saying, "Hello, is anyone there?" This was the first time I ever heard anything so distinctly in this state and it was enough to stir me to awareness. I remember thinking that I was probably dreaming and decided to ignore the voice when it called out again more urgently, repeating, "Hello, is anyone there!?". This is where I actually felt emotions from the source of the voice. Things like anxiety, curiosity, intrigue, and maybe a bit of desperation. Then I felt a presence, a deep sense of familiarity, and suddenly I had a strong feeling that I knew this person and suspected who it probably was. But I couldn't see anything in the black void. It was like floating in the dark, complete and total blackness. And when I figured out who the person probably could be based on the familiarity of their presence I wasn't sure if I should answer. The voice called out again a third time, repeating, "Hello, is anyone there!?" in a persistent, urgent and almost desperate tone, as if it could sense my hesitation, and I decided okay, maybe this isn't really a dream and I should try to answer and see what happens. Then I remember thinking how am I supposed to speak? It didn't take long to figure it out. I'm not sure how I did this but through concentration it felt as if my mind twisted and formed a tunnel but one you wouldn't be able to see. I focused on projected a word through the tunnel and heard myself say "Hello" in a hesitant manner.

It didn't take long before I felt more emotions from the other presence. Initially, a mild sense of shock, partially from hearing an answer and partially from recognition. It was followed by a brief, calming feeling that quickly turned into awkwardness and then discomfort. The discomfort grew and I gradually felt myself leave the void and wake up.

My question is could this be some form of astral project? It didn't seem like a dream at all to me.

Hm, okay. Wondering just what could it be if it isn't astral projection? I don't like the idea of my aura floating around aimlessly, maybe even inadvertly startling other people!

I call dreams for gateways between world and truly there is no difference in that and astral traveling. In both you can travel to worlds that have their own consciousness and to worlds that are only conscious while you are there. Worlds that are shared by two or more and worlds that are meant for only you where everything is a projection of yourself. What label you choose for your experience is up to yourself and as long as the label does not limit you then just go with it
