Got it!.....

The truth behind the scenes of it all is that reality is NOT 'I'. Reality is God. And God lies beyond the 'I'. How we ever separated from God is by saying 'I'....

If we loose our 'I' we reunite with God.

Just to complicate everything God's name is claimed to be I AM. Notice the first word of that name!!! If one goes about claiming I AM all the time one will end up with a huge ego or 'I'.

God lies beyond I AM where there is no 'I'. Just unconditional love.

It is all very confusing. But ultimately the truth (in my opinion) is that the 'I' will die because it is transitory and not real, and God will live again.

The Original Sin is the 'I'....thinking I AM real. Not so, it is God who is real.

God will live and I will die. In my opinion.

If we lose our sense of “I” then we wouldn’t be here in the physical imo

Nice thoughts, Honza. I think you're on the right track.

"I AM" is a mystery that is to be unraveled in one's heart. Realizing we are "soul" and not the "ego" is a liberating feeling. Yet this physical plane/our bodies is where we can manifest the things of God, and do works to uplift others in love. Or as Jesus said in the Gospel of Thomas...

"...Rather, the (Father's) kingdom is within you and it is outside you. When you know yourselves, then you will be known, and you will understand that you are children of the living Father. But if you do not know yourselves, then you live in poverty, and you are the poverty." GOT 3

good point that you get every incentive to get your ego involved but that may not be the way...

by the way, AFAIK, the name given early in the bible wasn't 'i am' it was 'i am that (which) I am'

I think one definition of "I" could be an assertion of ones conditioning.

But I think one does not have to assert one's conditioning or identify with it.

In that case I think the "I" is something different.

I think this is a bible passage about not identifying with your body or your conditioning:

Galatians 3:28
New International Version
28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Maybe we don’t have any identity to lose. That’s in the spiritual world I mean.

Perhaps we are just consciousness and identity only applies to the physical.

Just a thought.

I like your thought. I see it slightly different. I would say that our normal way of identifying is irrelevant in the spiritual world. Galatians 3:28-29 basically says that in Christ there is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female…..these are all irrelevant. However if you still exist as spirit or soul you still have identity if, in this case, you are part of the body of Christ……
