When you use affirmations do you need to still keep focusing on your goal?

hi everyone. what i wanted to know is do i focus on my goals for hours everyday or do i just let the affirmation do all the work?

A good question. There is the idea that we state our affirmation and then release it to the universe, trusting that it will manifest without concerning ourselves with how it will manifest.

If we focus on our affirmation for hours every day then we are not releasing it. We are holding onto it. This also suggests that we have might some doubt about it manifesting so we need to keep on repeating the affirmation to give it more power.

On the other hand, the more we focus on something the more energy we give it. An affirmation with a lot of energy should in theory manifest more quickly.

Perhaps the quality of our affirmations is more important than the quantity. I suggest that you read Neville Goddard for further guidance.

Affirmations fail for one of these reasons:

They're impractical
They aren't specific enough
They're approached half-heartedly. No use just uttering once a day unless you're already highly focused on your aim.
Lack of faith that they can be achieved
Giving up too early.

They're about brain plasticity; gradually influencing your behaviour in subtle ways.

Done properly they work. They may takes weeks, maybe months. Be resolute. People very successful in their lives affirm naturally without having to rely on it as a technique.

If it feels good, focus on your goal for as long as you like, but you only really need to do the minimum. Visualise once a day for 5-10 minutes, and then let your affirmations do the rest. I have manifested numerous things that way, and find that positive effort (rather than straining away) is always best. The trick is to do your LOA things every day until you manifest what you would like.

This is how I think of it. If you want to increase your deadlift, you affirm it certainly, and visualise it for sure, but if you don't do the training it ain't gonna happen. I find the trick is, have the goal, but focus on the process. This becomes very valuable as you cultivate attributes like commitment, consistency, determination and patience, and as you improve, be happy about your progress. When you make the goal lift you'll be filled with the confidence of 'I can'. The valuable personal growth you cultivated are your attributes that extend to other areas of your life, and you can always remember, no amount of affirmation and visualisation will lift the bar unless you also do what it takes to make it happen.

The same with other things, like playing in a band, dreaming and affirming it is important, but you have to practice or it isn't going to happen...
