Do we have similar character traits in each life?

I would have to say yes, likely some at least. I have things that I am talented at that make absolutely no sense in terms of my current life otherwise. I can't remember a lot of my lives but I have a feeling I was just as much my own person as I am in this life, always dancing to my own drum, as they say.

There are things I am strongly attracted to, things I can just do, they're just not things I learned here and I remember doing them before. No one taught me to embroider or sew but I've been embroidering and sewing pretty much correctly since I was little. Somehow I knew how the stitches were supposed to go, how garments and other things are supposed to come apart and fit. I have yet to learn how to sew the proper way. I'm trying now but it's odd to me using patterns and all that.

I spent a weekend once on a farm from the 1700's where you do everything the old way? I had almost no problems doing anything in the kitchen almost without being shown at all. At times I just did things so naturally I really surprised our guides. It was pretty obvious to me at the end of our stay that I'd likely spent at least a few lifetimes on a similar farm in the kitchen, likely as a wife, maid or cook.

As a little kid my folks would take me to port towns for vacations. Inevitably they'd find me up on some walk or hill looking out for ships, looking out to sea like I was waiting for the men to come home. The first time I saw a house with a widow's or captain's walk I was just mesmerized. I told my Mom that I used to have a house just like that that my father then had built it for my husband and me as a wedding present and that my husband worked for my father on one of his ships and was supposed to have been a captain himself someday. She laughed at my silly tale but then asked me why he had not been made one. I very solemly told her that he had been lost at sea but that I'd had a baby anyway and that he had gotten the house after me. I mean how do you explain a 5 year old saying stuff like that?

I know I've lived several dozen lives but I cannot remember a lot of the details for most of them. The ones that I do remember though? They really haunt me and it's like they've left behind bits and pieces....
