Oh goodness Wisteria , my heart goes out to you, it really does.
I have suffered neuralgia pain in my face periodically but not re-curring and I can vouch for how awful and painful it is.
The worst that I suffered in the facial area was 2 years of one after the other of tooth abscesses and it was complete and utter misery.
There was nothing that could get rid of the pain until eventually antibiotics and the tooth extraction. But was at a time it was impossible to get the antibiotics . Talk about gold dust. When I got the prescription I was almost tempted to eat it in case I lost it then get the pharmacy to find in my stool samples !!!!! That's how bad the pain was.
So I completely know what you mean that you might allow them to drill your skull.
When I was in agony during those times I would have welcomed having my head chopped off !
And I CAN deal with pain. You don't have a boatload of kiddies if you can't bear the pain, but I swear, that mouth / face pain was like nothing I had ever experienced before.

I'm sure they still do electric shock treatment,which I expect is hit and miss but not heard of any recent skull drilling which you think would be a safer option.
