The 10 Commandments have a lot to do with how we treat others.

It occurred to me that the original 10 commandments in the old testament had a lot to do with how we treat others, and less with how we treat ourselves. In this day and age the emphasis is now on how we treat ourselves; in the sense of self love, diet, exercise, self development etc. I have noticed this shift in emphasis quite a lot.

To be honest I prefer it when the emphasis is on how we get on with others rather than how we get on with our-self. But I do understand that both aspects are important.

Things like "do not kill" "do not steal" "do not commit adultery" are specifically aimed at how we get on with YOU. Please don't say that YOU are my own self! Homicide is not suicide. Nor do I steal my own property. Please have a sense of perspective rather than just say "well everything is ME".

If you killed someone you would have harmed another and not just your own self.
