Pendulums

So I started experimenting with my first pendulum today.

It is made of amethyst and is supposedly reiki charged. I have a few questions for others who have used this practice....

What is the benefit of charging it with reiki and how would I use this benefit?

Can the pendulum answer questions about the future or just the past and present?

I know I have to ask it which direction will give each answer (yes, no, I don't know) but do I have to do that every time I use it, or if it's passed to someone else, or if it's passed back to me etc....?

Advice is much appreciated!

Do you have to hold the pendulum in order for it to work, or can you hang it from something so that it stays still better and use it that way?

Yes, you have to hold the pendulum. Mine is not charged with Reiki - I don't know of anyone who has a pendulum charged with Reiki......so I couldn't say what the benefit would be.

Yes, the pendulum can answer questions about the future.

You don't have to ask the pendulum which way it swings for yes and no, etc. every time you use it. I don't let anyone else use my pendulum and I don't use other people's pendulums.

Keep in mind that for some people it swings in circles - clockwise for yes and anti-clockwise for no (usually) and for other people it swings away from the body and back towards the body for yes (usually) and across the body for no.

Actually, I wonder if this would have been better posted in the Divination section? It doesn't really have anything to do with Wicca.

I will post there then, thank you. I read about pendulums on a wiccan website which is why I thought it belonged here.
