Karma does not do anything; the idea of karma is a structure in which you can begin working with yourself in a way that you can understand yourself-- So, you come to yourself as karma, but you are all of this, so what is the karmic system to you? And it is simply that neutral point between both positive and negative, as to be the basis in which we experience this baseline--

That is positive or negative are the same thing, as they can only exist in relation to each other, but our perspective is governed is by the karmic neutral, so by we may understand that balance we have been trying to achieve-- Since you always view from the neutral point, but you do not always act from it; this causes formations around you to veer from your intentions, where if the neutral point was not distorted by the karma that you experience yourself expressed as (as you are made of karma to be transformed into soul--; as you are soul you just must remove the karma)--

Ultimately, karma is the inability to express yourself--

If you were karma free and did not exist in a karmic realm, and you manifested your neutral point into form, your personality would be truly expressed not just through you mind, words, and actions, but through your body, environment and creation-- You would see who you are beyond the forms that express them--

But lets say you didn't act according to your own personality (this would basically undoable if you were only in various forms of your own personality), a single move away from the personality expressed uninhibited from the neutral point, would cause in your eternal pattern a single speck to shift every order of operation into a lower quality expression where your personality does not seem to express itself as well.. and if this continued, you may only recognize yourself within the source of the emerging pattern; which would be the personality with your body, and if you forgot what you were like, you would eventually forget it was all you..

And this is like the beginning of karma; we are not in a harmony that allows the patterns of our personality to better express themselves, because the conditions of the world is that no one can see their personality anymore to act upon it, and those who do must trudge the neutral point with out reassurance that they do or even can to uphold the neutral order of personality in existence--

However, though the description I gave for understanding I think is helpful, the doctrines and such for karma are useful until you gain some inkling into a notion into a concept into understanding into a burning and being--
