I hope not to complicate your interpretation with what I'll add. But, as you may know (so I'm perhaps not telling you anything new), in a dream a familiar house from our childhood (parents' home, or wherever one spent a great deal of time) can be a metaphor for the basis of our familiar self. Not the soul, as such, but the nurtured, experienced self of this-present-life.
Not sure what the time span (49 months) could mean.
But how about this? Was your grandmother the person in the family who "inhabited" a space - an attitudinal/emotional support and good will - toward your mother (or parents) and other descendants?

Very much so. She set the moral/ethical tone of our family and showed how love was expressed. Since her passing the family has split up in many ways, each nuclei family becoming more insular and not associating with the others much, and I don't think this will change. She was the 'glue which bound us together'.
