Interesting thought

I’ve just learnt that there was actually 777 books represented in the original Bible yet there are only 66 books
in the King James Bible. Apparently the Vatican has admitted that the books that are missing are in the Vatican.

I wonder why they were never printed?
I’ve also been told that Queen Elizabeth owns the copyright.

Interesting thought hey.

Oh there are plenty of reasons why the Powers of the day turned away many.
Now, some were simply repetitious...but wait til others have the time to tell you other reasons!

Look up gnostic gospels if you haven't already heard. Especially the Gospel of Thomas...very interesting.

As I find time I will add some reasons and there are OTHER reasons, also.

-The main reason for Jewish rejection of the Book of Enoch
is that it is inconsistent with the teachings of the Torah.

-The Gospel of Mary is an early Christian text deemed unorthodox by the men who shaped the
Catholic church, was excluded from the canon, and was subsequently erased from the history of Christianity
along with most narratives that demonstrated women's contributions to the early Christian movement.

-The Gospel of Thomas was not included in the Bible because it contains controversial material that
Early Orthodox Christian leaders did not agree with, specifically the gnostic theme of knowledge in place
of the traditional sacrament of baptism and Holy Communion.

-The Letter of Jeremiah, also known as the Epistle of Jeremy is a deuterocanonical (or apocryphal) book of the Old Testament.
The letter is believed to have been made by Jeremiah to the people who were to be taken prisoner into Babylon.
It is included in Catholic Bibles as the last part of the Book of Baruch, and in Orthodox Bibles as a stand alone book.

-The Gnostics Gospels saw no connection between Jesus and the nation of Israel and the acts of God in the Old Testament.
These reasons may be the biggest reasons why the Gnostic Gospels are not in the Bible.

Those not printed in the KJV were deemed by the Protestant hierarchy not to be words inspired by God. In other words the missing Verses didn't suit them....
The Crown do own the Copyright so it's Charly who owns it now...

This is a great article on the Gnostic Gospels, imo!
https://www.gcu.edu/blog/theology-mi...liable-sources

I think this thread will be very good, because each of the rejected gospels will probably be discussed..which may be
a brand new thing for some people.
"What Gospels that we don't know anything about? What did they say?"

I can't see how anybody can own a copyright on any ancient manuscript. A translatin... is a different story.

If there were 777 books in the original Bible: they probably would need a special table to hold it because of the weight. And then how much paper/parchment/etc. would it take to make such a book?

The Crown has a perpetual copyright on the KJB which was obviously issued to stop unofficial editions.....

what i thought was interesting about this was we went from three of the 'perfect' number (yes god probably planned there to be exactly 777 books in existance) to two of the 'no choices' number...

BigJohn,

This is a very relevant observation. I haven’t actually counted but my personal library is probably less than 250 books. I had a cross country move and left many behind. Nevertheless they take up a lot of room. 777 would be overwhelming.

Perhaps if we actually understood the 66 we have we could handle more ? Maybe but few now can understand the symbolic message of the Bible and it largely remains a hidden treasure. ‘Pick and choose’ is a common way of utilizing the Bible and IMO gives little justice to the message of the Bible. As mentioned the Apocrypha is included in the Catholic Bible yet we seldom, if ever, see anyone quoting it. To pick and choose from 777 books could only lead to mind numbing dialogue……
