New at Runes!
I finally bought myself some Runes! I'm very excited, I've been wanting some for a long time. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice or guidance on exactly where to start with them? It came with a book, but I don't always trust those little book things so I just thought I'd ask...I read tarot cards but I've never tried runes before so I'm excited but for some reason a little nervousss. Anyways, any advice/ideas/just talking is welcome! Thanks guys!

Hi Neth,
Congrats! I wonder why you are nervous? I ask because when I first started with my runes, a man told me to be very careful, they were very powerful. It scared the **** out of me and that held me back for a while until I got over it.
I do think that picking one a day and meditating on it, or just thinking about it is a good way to start. Good luck!

I'm not sure really scorpiowitch...I guess I'm kind of a nervous person lol.
And that's a great idea! I did that with tarot cards when I first started, and it really helped. Didn't think about doing that with the runes...thank you!

Thinking about the meanings will do you the best work in understanding them. Breaking apart what the ideal they try to tell, and looking at every part of it. You can do it however you want though.

Greetings Neth Rana:
I like the book by Horik Svensson entitled "Runes". However--it is somewhat different from most other Rune guides--as it focuses on the Nordi Rune system.
Peace and Love on the path of your choice...
Blessed be...

Runes are old and dead alphabets used nowadays for divination and magic. I like using Runes personally because they have a tendency to be quite clear with what they talk about. There's still curve-balls, but you can expect that from anything.

Greetings Everyone:
I've found that choosing the right Rune Cloth makes a huge difference in the way the Runes are interpreted.
I actually made my own.
Peace and Love on your path to discovering the Mysteries...
Blessed be...

Hi LadyTerra,
Can you explain what you mean by choosing the right cloth? I really would love to hear how you made your own and how it helps...

While I can't speak for LadyTerra, when you do any kind of divination that involves casting lots, you can add additional interpretive significance depending on where it falls on the casting surface (in this case a cloth). I have a cloth that is divided into four quarters that I may variously interpret in terms of the Four Elements, four seasons, four stages of life, etc.
