The Minoan Path: Walking with Ariadne's Tribe

The project — entitled Itanos Gaia — will be constructed at the Cavo Sidero peninsula, Northeastern Crete, in the prefecture of Lasithi and aims to become an international landmark of sustainable architecture in the hotel industry.


With estimated value at some 267 million euros, the luxury holiday resort will feature hotels, golf courses, a marina, a conference center, a wellness center and other high-end facilities.

What a bummer. Greece's economy has been struggling significantly. They are in pretty bad shape. Kinda sad they had to sell out a piece of their history however,I understand the desperation of the people too. Sad times.

Rather sad--as one of the first modern countries to collapse with this whole system of inequality on earth--it had a chance to rise up and create a new, and more progressive system.

Then again, humanity isn't the sharpest group of beings--and that is often due to letting our Egos run amok. Sometimes we need to watch a few countries fail (or more than a few!) before we get wise and brave enough to make changes that are so desperately needed.

The old petition for this project does bring good points as to why this luxurious resort is not ideal in a dry remote landscape.

Disgraceful. In modern times we've seen the destruction of ancient sites from past civilisations, either brutally cut down by terrorists or legally from money obsessed planners. The destruction of the Hill of Tara in Ireland is one from a decade ago that such a mystical site was chopped away dead of night undercover. This is terrible. Modern humans spit upon the ancestors.
