what does it mean when your altar catches fire?

you know my son was being really difficult yesterday and back chatting being disrespectful and defiant. i thought its because of recent changes with his dad coming to visit and all. when i picked him up from vacation care this afternoon i was told he was behaving that way there too. so no computer for the rest of the week for him and i confiscated his pokemon.

Anyway i came to my room, lit my incense and candles and lay down to do my mediation. next thing i knew my altar had caught on fire (ie the top of tallboy/ chest of draws where my icons and crystals are).

Ouf ! Is someone trying to tell me something that important missing, whilst I've been patting myself on the back for being compassionate and forgiving ????

Perhaps something was too close to the candle flames ?

Perhaps but i felt at the time it was a sign and this morning on waking i found out i was right. at the time my altar caught on fire my ex was at my aunts place spewing forth a whole lother of vitriole and hate about me. . . he will never change. God give me strength. A PRAYER wouldn't go astray either ...

Well, apart from the obvious...

fire is cleansing and brings transformation. This is also the start of the Chinese New Year, which is Black Water Dragon this year - again, cleansing, transforming, changing for the better... Sounds like you maybe need to work on cutting ties and cleansing/protecting your energy.

Okay, i'll try some cord cutting, thank you. I've been doing my protection prayers and shileding daily.

I think the kid is prolly struggling with all that's going on, so good the altar caught fire, coz maybe all this spiritual stuff is a distraction from what is important.

Hi Ellespirit, It sounds like you really have the answer to you own question ...
Maybe the fire was to redirect your attention to a situation that was a little more pressing in your life at this time....
I understand how hard it can be to keep a balance in the physical and spiritual realms, most of the time I seem to be in one area more than the other and it takes time, focus and patience to achieve a balance. I believe that just the awareness of needing to balance yourself equally in these areas can assist you in doing just that....

Good Luck and I hope your son finds some peace with any issues that surround him right now. :-)

I had a healing yesterday and my lightworker confirmed for me that whilst I was meditating and my altar caught fire, what was in fact happening was that I was receiving a psychic attack from a negative entity attached to my ex-husband and the fire was a cleansing and protective mechanisim by my spirit guides and angels who literally zapped the attack as it tried to come through. Enya you were so right!
