The theory about the subconsciousness

Can someone explain the theory about a "subconscious"? How does it work?

Thanks

The world is vast and detailed, and we experience all of it within the limitations of our senses. Even within that limitation, it's too much. So, we put yet another limitation on it as in what is processed consciously.

The rest is subconscious knowledge. So, if you carelessly left your wallet at the top of your car (for example), then your consciousness wouldn't know where it is because you forgot that you put it there. You would, however, subconsciously know where you left it because you're the one that left it there. If you can access your subconscious, then you would remember where it was instead of happening to look at where it is and wonder, "How did it get there??"

Mostly, though, the subconscious generates dream imagery. If you've ever kept a dream diary, then you might be able to see where "day residue" remains in the subconscious and comes out in a dream. Sometimes dreams can turn an abstract emotion or concept into a more concrete thing, such as if you're intimidated by your boss at work, then you might dream of forgetting to put on clothes when you go to work, as a symbol of your vulnerability (and not because you actually went to work without clothes and forgot about it, like the misplacing your wallet example.)

Your subconscious is the place within each of us that keeps our secrets until we are ready to deal with them. It is the place that reminds us of who we truly are if we begin down a path that is unwise for us. The subconscious mind hold all the life experiences we have ever had, all our memories, everything that has been us is stored in that place called the subconscious.

If we can learn to access this place we can learn a lot about ourselves. Our inner self is stored safe within our subconscious. We only let others see the part of us that we accept, however the subconscious stores the whole self, even those parts that we don't like so much. Your subconscious mind can be a defense for your well being. It can store things that you are unable to deal with currently, at least until you are ready to deal with them.

The mind in general is a wonderful tool that each of us should learn to use to our best ability.

Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud, I think. They're psychologists who believed that dream imagery was generated from something outside of consciousness and deliberation, but within the individual psyche. It's used a lot in psychology.

Carl Jung was also a spiritualist, he believed in the "collective unconscious" or collective subconscious.

You can input their names and the word subconscious or the phrase collective subconscious in any search engine, like google.
