Intense dream about the workplace

Hi everyone. I thought I'd post this because it's still with me, this intense dream I had last night.

I work in a job that I've had struggles with over the years, but for the past two years I've really settled into it and have enjoyed my work and my place I work in a big education system, riddled with ego and hierarchy, and my informal role is to take care of the spiritual needs of the children in schools. My employer cautions me to not get "too" spiritual, but whatever - so many children are spiritually hungry in this secular ego-based world!

In the dream: I formally submit my resignation. Then the next day I regret my decision. I ask a previous colleague if it is too late to revoke my resignation and stay in my job. He said to give it a try. All throughout the dream, I am fraught with anxiety and worry - I kept thinking, "What have I done??!" I tell my boss that I want to cancel my resignation and stay in my job. And that's when I wake up. And now all morning I've been buzzing with anxiety.

What do you think - is this a guidance dream telling me not to resign if I ever feel the urge to because I will regret it? Or is it just some emotional dumping over past conflicts in the workplace that I underwent in the dream so I stay effective in this job? Or could it be a prediction dream -- something that foretells the future. (Oh gosh, I hope not!)

Thanks! I appreciate any insight any one cares to share about their sense of this dream. I'm still too close to it so I don't feel very clear about what this dream wants of me.

You are moving on to a more Spiritual Phase of your life. This is why you dreamed of quitting your old job. Thus the anxiety. This is an more unknown part of life for you. No security.

Generally when I dream of work dreams it mainly means something I am working on not necessarily my actual job but some thought process or belief system is being worked on. My thought is that you may want to quit feeling guilty or wrong for how you are teaching your kids. You have been told to not teach them too much spirituality which is kind of odd because who really decides what is too much but you may have a tendency to have very good work ethics and as such feel a little as though you are breaking a rule you shouldn't. So I think the dream could mean you want to quit the guilt in the job but not necessarily quit the job itself but as Thunder stated even though our changes in thoughts are usually a good healthy thing to do we can still struggle with it because we are not familiar with how it feels so we change our mind. This said, if you do come across a situation that makes you question continuing working there then just take a step back and access if what is driving you away is worth walking away from the job for. You now have a heads up if something happens. You know what the job means to you. So just try to release the anxiety the dream brought about because it isn't reality at this point and doesn't ever have to be.

Wow - thanks folks! It's been a few days and I have some "space" between the dream and my thoughts today. Very helpful and reassuring. Thanks so much!
