Placing crystal to get the best results.

I have worked with crystal for many years now having many great experiences and I know all the basic things concerning charging them and cleaning them.

The thing that I miss and that I haven’t been having yet is the great break through with them, how do I place the crystals to get the best out of them… well my question is very big and I know that I am not specific in any way…

Are there any way, to combine different crystals to spread the energy in certain areas or to protect specific things.

Any information would be appreciated. (books, links and would be great)

As far as I am aware, crystals work best while you touch them. Then their energy fields mix with yours. It does not have to be your hand.
