Never think to give Buddha a hug
But maybe that's okay?
I not dare enough to do that, I think he is as my great teacher.
I will bow and respect Buddha.

Everyone deserves a hug, Buddha was a human being and told people not to bow or worship him but to follow his teachings, nothing more, nothing less.

Hug is only a tradition same as bow. Now hug begin popular here because we affected by west tradition.
Usually we just do Anjali for greeting. Even shaking hand is seldom.

Here in my place, bow to Buddha, monks and our parents, is something common.
I will do both respect him by bowing and practicing his teaching.
So I feel lucky born in Buddhist family, the tradition give a lot benefit to me.
When bowing I can express my feeling, a great honor and gratitude to my teacher.

So hug a Buddha is just feel uncommon
we have different tradition indeed.

It doesn't matter as long as we love, respect, and never hurt any living being
