Pranams.

In my own 'belief system', if Brahman was to be known through and by any association, that would be Purusha.

I still cannot post links here yet, so I am relying on you kind folk to do your homework. Thank you.

It would really help me.
Brahman is a neuter noun which I like to render as 'the living universe' for English speakers. This is not the same as the universe that forms the subject matter of physical sciences, albeit it includes that universe. In nominative case Brahman declines as Brahma.

Brahman is also a masculine noun and in nominative case, it declines as BrahmA. I am following Harvard-Kyoto convention to transliterate Sanskrit terms in which 'a' is pronounced as 'u' in 'but' and 'A' is pronounced as 'a' in 'father'. As masculine noun, Brahman is personal form of Brahman, the neuter noun, and is seen as person who generates or creates the physical universe.

I'm thinking it is an esoteric alternate name? I don't know.
Makes no difference to me. I believe you!

Namaste.

Think of it this way.

Pleroma is very much 'old-school' and some of the Hindu deities he believes in, were pretty much watered down or even vanished by the time the Upanishads were written (no disrespect to him...he's an old friend).

However, the Gayatri Mantra is the most powerful Hindu Mantra out there, describing the 3 lower planes of existence 'bhur', 'bhuvah' and 'swaha' and the truth and guiding light of the sun-god, Savitr to reign over them.

Put simply (very simply), the ancient Hindus worshiped the life-giving, and effulgent sun as the creator. Savitr (or Savitri) was the presiding deity.

I also liked kris' response. I can read Sanskrit, but I don't know as much about the grammar and the more finer details of it.

Maybe this is a good time to ask why the Gayatri Mantra is
considered the most powerful.
I read 2 translations and I was not impressed, I mean as the meaning
being powerful, with respect.

I'm partial to this one:
https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?p=om+namo+bhagavate+mantra&ei=UTF-8&hspart=mozilla&hsimp=yhs-001

"Om, I bow to Lord Vasudeva or Lord Krishna".
Krishna also proclaimed:
"Everybody should recite "Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya" mantra daily
whenever possible so that I (Krishna) will stand by them.'*

*In Wikipedia.

Hahaha, the battles of the most powerful mantras begins! Kidding!

All this stuff (Who is Godhead, which mantra is the most powerful, and much more) depends on school. It is a natural mistake for newcomers, when asking questions about Hinduism, to assume the first or only response they hear is correct. Even Hindus themselves often feel their particular POV is THE POV of all Hindus.

Of course it's just such a chore to preface all statements with 'in my opinion', from my school's perspective' etc. But effectively, the reader should assume that.

Namaste.

I worship the god Shiva and I also think the Gayatri Mantra is the most powerful out there. Want to know why?

Because it is the best mantra to use for awakening Kundalini or the Shakti-force at the base of the spine (mooladhara chakra).

The first three 'words' of that Mantra, directly correspond to the three lower-most chakras.

By chanting this mantra, one is able to awaken Kundalini and stimulate them.

Chanting Gayatri Mantra whilst doing Surya Namaskar (Salute to the Sun) can produce amazing benefit.

Gayatri Mantra is also one of the only Mantras out there which can be chanted by any/all Hindu faiths without secularism.

It is akin to singing "Jaya Jagadish Hare" at a pooja ceremony.

Each sampradaya (school of Hinduism) will all try and put their own 'spin' on it.

In the end, there's no real 'end-all mantra' really and usually it is the mantra given in a sacred ceremony by one's own Guru (Mantra Diksha).

The mantra given by Guru IS the most 'powerful mantra'.

I was given a Kali Mantra...I should have listened way back then, instead of ignoring it and just chanting 'Aum Namah Shivaya' instead..

Aum Namah Shivaya

Namaste.

I totally agree with the one who wears a single Rudraksha bead hidden beneath his clothing.
