Question about offerings to ancestors.

Hey all. So I'm here with a question about certain offerings that I've offered to angels and ancestors and I was wondering if anyone has ever worked with these on their altars. So I have a cigar that I've dedicated to my ancestors & angels but I have not ever lit it since I don't normally smoke & I try not to breathe in smoke in general for my own health. Instead I've kept the cigar in the same package that I bought it in & I've also laid out a box of matches on the altar. But I was wondering am I supposed to light it in order for energy exchange to be sent to my angels and ancestors? Can my angels & ancestors light the cigar from the other side if I provide the matchbox & matches on the altar?

I also had a question about food offerings as well. I've offered food & water to my ancestors & angels. But then I'd find that there'd be bugs all around the food & crawling into the glass of water not even 5 hours after I've laid it out. If I put the food & water in a container & water bottle would my guides recieve it all the same?

Offerings to angels and ancestors are perhaps mainly for our own peace of mind as humans.

Angels and ancestors are multi-dimensional quantum energies, and they don’t have any use for our food or offerings.

Maybe honouring them through our thoughts of appreciation and thanks might be better.

Thoughts are multi-dimensional quantum energies. And so is love.

I went through a phase maybe a year ago now, and this post reminded me... I would take something to an old stone cross I used to play on as a kid - Talke Cross in Stoke, there's photos of it online.

So what I did was take something there in meditation, visualise flying there and drop off a cake wrapped up as you would buy in a shop, and place it on the stone steps, so my Higher Self / Guides / Angels / 'My Angels' could collect it and take it to someone in need.

A couple of times - once felt a hand on my hand when leaving it, and another time saying to Higher Self this is for you to give, and I knew something / knowledge instantly useful - gut feeling guidance.

What is an offering? To a guide, to an ancestor, to an angel, to a god?

First of all, it isn't wasted. A cigar or an apple or a leaf or a brand new car; by offering it you perform the simple action of calling for their attention. You make a call to them, with an object rather than a prayer, but it has the same effect: sending a message to a being. The value of the item is unimportant; the strength of sincerity of your call is. Your gift will not be consumed, but that doesn't mean it isn't appreciated. Just as a prayer or the lighting of a candle or incense is heard; intent is everything.

In the case of that cigar there is something more at play. Nicotine smoke has a spiritual component as well as a physical effect; it can calm you down and make you more open for spiritual communication. Native Americans have known this for ages endless. Speaking as a former smoker that cigar could make you go green before you get any spiritual effect so I won't recommend lighting it up and inhaling, but there's nothing stopping you from say cutting a little bit off one end and burning it on a candle to get that distinct smell in the air.
