Apprehension
Hey folks. So I took my time learning the cards - found a nice deck that had a good vibe, studied some basic spreads, was good to go. I was about to do my first reading (my Mom) when I encountered an overwhelming sense that I was about to enter into something that I should not be trifling with. I followed my intuition and stopped.
So I'm wondering what's up. I'd love to continue with the cards - I'm drawn to them in a powerful way. But I need to trust myself and do some work before I return to the practice. I'm hoping someone here might have an insight for me regarding this situation. I way to proceed would be great. Thanks in advance,
- Matt

Practice on people other than friends and family You're welcome to join us in the Tarot/oracle/angel card practice thread! :)
Even without that intuitive message, I'd have avoided reading for your mother anyway in your shoes - it's difficult to be objective AND deal with any resultant fallout as you're not really in a strictly neutral position. Not to mention any messages may be better received from an 'objective' third party, too :)
But also - IMHO sometimes people just aren't meant to know stuff. Eg sometimes they're in a growth phase where they're meant to learn how to work it out for themselves.

Tealily - thank you for the response. I was actually more comfortable working with strangers to begin with but didn't think anything of it. I'll give this another shot. Thanks again,
- Matt

heh heh. I don't think you could PAY me to read for my mother. Anytime she heard something she didn't like, she'd whack me and tell me to quit screwing around with her for sure

I agree with tealily
Reading for your mum (or any other very close relative) can be a very daunting thought. I have never read for mine and doubt I'd ever offer, or that she'd ever ask.
