  VERSE 32

(32) Jesus said,

"A city built atop a high mountain
       and fortified cannot fall,
        nor can it be hidden."

When I first read this, the first thing that came to my mind was Masada (claimed to be the last Jewish stronghold during the Great Revolt). Maseda is located near Sodom.

What is interesting of Masada's geology is that Dolomite is present, which makes me wonder if some Herkimer Diamonds can be found in that area.

Masada fell in April 15, 73 AD. Who would ever believe giant ramps would be made by 8000 Roman soldiers so as to breach Masada.

It is particularly challenging as people "judge" from their own perspective... And for most, that perspective is trapped as memories from the past, being projected into the future. Rather than realizing that for a Prophet, there is only the full and open response of the "moment"...

Jesus said: No prophet is accepted in his own village.

If you know and are familiar with a Person you wouldn't see anything special about them, to you their behaviour is just normal, you'd probably just see the physical not the spiritual.



No doctor heals those who know him.

As healing requires faith from the person being healed in the one who's healing, would this be strong enough in close acquaintances if your only noticing their physical attributes...

If you don't mind. I think adding the next verse may help with this one.

33. Jesus said, "What you will hear in your ear, in the other ear proclaim from your rooftops. After all, no one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket, nor does one put it in a hidden place. Rather, one puts it on a lampstand so that all who come and go will see its light."

No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket,

Two scriptures from the Bible are apparently combined. Look for yourself.

Matthew 10:27 from the NIV reads:

"What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs."

And the other scripture is Luke 12:3 from the NIV reads:

"What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs."

But........ it may have not came from a synopsis of these 2 scriptures but what was the source material for the Gospels called "the Q source".

(34) Jesus said,
      
"If a blind person leads a blind person,
        both will fall into a ditch."

Verse 34 is a simple truism.

Unfortunately it is a lesson that we probably have all experienced personally if not seen play out with others.
