Why do watches keep stopping on me?

So in the past month I've used 3 different watches, one of them was old with a new battery fitted, another was given to me and the 3rd was brand new. All of them stopped working within a few days. When I put them down they start working again. Why is this? Does anyone else have this problem?

Watches have a crystal that resonates to keep time. It's typically quartz. If you resonate with that frequency or more likely directly opposite it, you would cancel out those vibrations, thereby making the watch stop no matter how much battery power there is.

Its a common problem for people with high energy (or strong emotions).

My brother had that problem - they would operate erratically, sometimes slowing down or speeding up or just not working. I guess it's sorta rare, but not unheard of.

all the time. i stopped wearing watches. it happens more or worse when i am upset or tired. then i cannot control my energy. TVs, cash registers, phones, cars, computers. it can get expensive.
