Hi all,

Which pantheons are most closely connected to the earth, nature?

Which ones have a wide variety of beings from other worlds and universes?

Basically, which ones would be most complimentary to the Druid path as a path of wisdom, art and love and nature.

Paganism and Witchcraft in general are connected to the earth and nature. Gaia is known as Mother Earth in the Greek pantheon. Persephone is a Greek vegetation Goddess and her mother Demeter is a grain Goddess. Nantosuela is a Gaulish goddess of Nature, the earth, fire and fertility and there's a Germanic goddess Nerthus known as Mother Earth.

If you're interested in Druidism you should maybe check out O.B.O.D. (Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids), they have courses and lessons. Since the Druids were Celtic the Celtic pantheon may be what you're looking for.

The Order of Bards, Ovates, and Druids (OBOD) has a wealth of Druidry related information online as does Ár nDraíocht Féin (ADF). The OBOD also has an online forum.

Well respected Druid authors are Phillip Carr-Gomm, Emma Restall Orr (bobcat), and John Michael Greer. A particularly good book is John Michael Greer's Druidry Handbook, and Emma Restall Orr's books are very tactile and intimate.

The Druid Network also offers a free online course in kindle or pdf format.

You can also find a free online version of Emma Restall's Book called Principles of Druidry at whatisdruidry.org

I would think that the Celtic pantheon would be most complimentary to the Druid path seeing as how the Druids were Celtic.

That has been questioned, Jenny. There are references in the annals of the Cymry Gwyddoniad [ Welsh Cunning Folk ]of the Druids "being from elsewhere" and of "being taught the Celtic mysteries by the Welsh Cunning Folk". Further, there is a reference to a study by a noted scholar [MacKenzie] of Buddhist missionaries being sent by an Indian king, Ashoka. They were sent to the "Northern Isles of the World" to learn "pagan magic and druidic arts" [this tale is also told about the Tuatha]. They ended up in Wales while attempting to return to India. The influence of the Druids spreads even further. When the Romans tried to eradicate them, many escaped to Ireland and were subsumed by the Celtic Church, forming pagan christianity or christian pagans whichever you prefer. They return to Britain later via the monasteries of Iona and Lindisfarne. Final twist is that Gerald Gardner and Ross Nichol, founders of Wicca and the Largest order of Neo-Druids were ordained priests of the Celtic Church !
