From your post #116:

"Jesus died before the Sabbath began which meant he died Friday before sunset (beginning of Sabbath). √ In grave Friday night (Nisan 14)..."

How could He have been in the grave Friday night when it had been over some nine hours by the time of His death?

In grave Friday night (Nisan 14) and part of Friday (Passover - Nisan 14) which began after sunset

You lost me on the nine hours. Where did that come from?

BigJohn,
re: "You lost me on the nine hours. Where did that come from?"

The first hour of the daytime began around sunrise, i.e., the end of Friday night time and the beginning of Friday daytime. Matthew 27:46-50 says the Messiah yielded up His spirit around the ninth hour.

If sunrise was at 6:00 AM, then the ninth hour would be about 3:00 PM.

If sunset was at 7:00 PM, then the Sabbath would begin at that time. Jesus was dead before the Sabbath began. If he died about 3:00 PM and the new day began about 7:00 PM, then Jesus was dead about 4 hours before the Sabbath began.

re: "If sunrise was at 6:00 AM, then the ninth hour would be about 3:00 PM."

That is correct.

That is correct.

How do those two comments support your statement that the Messiah was in the grave Friday night?

In the Biblical Jewish system of time, night time precedes day time.

Also, the new day began at sun down.

When nightfall began is not definitive stated in the Bible.

Generally, nightfall began when 3 stars are visible in the sky. I generally see some stars before sunset. I used to show people how to see Venus in the day time. Most people do not think this is possible, but it is.

If 3 stars could be seen before sunset on the Friday of Jesus' death, that would be considered night. Therefore Friday would count as one night and one day toward him being dead in his grave.

BigJohn,

I've got to give you this, that's a new explanation for supporting a Friday crucifixion. BTW, if what you say is true, then there would be two night times on Saturday which with the first night time of Sunday would make for a total of four night times.
