Druids

One of the things that's been happening for me lately is that I've been reading about Druidry. I was reading some of the writings of the Reformed Druids of North America (RDNA), although I was also inspired by their assertion that reading the writings isn't necessary, or even as good as Nature itself.

I was also inspired by the openness of Druidry to all other religions and paths, both pagan and non-pagan.

I read Joanna van der Hoeven's book, The Awen Alone. I also started ARDA, a Reformed Druid Anthology.

Is the name Camelot authentic? There are 2 camelodonums and various camelot sites. Camlat of Oxford Dictionary is from khamlat "plush cloth with pile" and seil el kemel "Angora goat" . Greek chimairos "goat" became acciamara , chamarre and zamarra "fleece cloak". Zamarrones in Galicia Spain wore zamarra with a goat head on their head , similar to Abbotts Bromley horn dancers. Chamarre became chimere robe of bishops and kings ( Henry VIII) and in 13th century was made of camelot cloth . Wool combs and loom weights were excavated at Uffington and Cadbury, caddisbyrig from caddis "worsted serge" , from serica "silk". Barristers are known as "silks" today . Probably Druids formed a Camelot religious war council wearing robes and met wherever the need arose . So could these places all be camelots as general groups like councils in towns today ? Camulos the ram-horned war god of Camulodonum, Colchester, suggests the link with goats and zamarrones of Spain.
