What do you like about any Hindu God?

I personally like Goddess Durga as she's our mother supporting us; Lord Shiva for his stability; Hanuman ji for his cheerfulness and being dispeller of problems; Mother Sita and Lord Ram for exemplifying ideal living; Queen Lakshmi ji for her kind nature, regality; Sri Krishna i don't know i just like him.

Hindu Gods remind me of the Roman/Greek Gods. They are personifications of the divine. Or archetypes if you like. I'm not surprised that Abrahamic religions labelled them as 'pagan' for centuries. Although that may now be changing.

Any being with a body is unskillful to me (compared to God).

Genesh or Genesha isn't a 'God', right ...I like him!! Big hug to him.

In some sects, especially Ganapatya sect he is indeed God, the Supreme God. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ganapatya

I couldn't have answered it better than Jainarayan ji. Also broadly speaking, according to Lord Shiva's dictum, Ganesh ji - the remover of obstacles, is supposed to be worshiped before worshiping any other deity. So he's a great entry point to Hinduism.

Those are my two personal favorite Hindu deities as well, particularly Lord Shiva, Lord of Meditation.

liking hindu god

While Hinduism believes in idol worship and its recommended the seeker keeps one idol for himself/herself for his/her prayers/mediation for his/her ease of seeking. But it exhorts one not to hold bad feeling/grudge against other deities . In the past many a fool / frauds have done this sin. That's not the spirit of Hinduism.

So acutely aware of idol rivalry - great philosophers like Shankaracharya prescribe multiple (5) idol worship (Panchayatan pooja ) where seeker can keep the idol he/she is comfortable with in the middle and rest beside it .

Hindu Gods are definitely personification of the divine. Association with divinity is defining characteristic .

So true to spirit of Hinduism I believe and respect many deities and insist everyone to have a deity with divinity attributes of his/her liking. Hindus in general believe in Krishna, shiva , ram , ganesh , goddess amba/durga , sun . Besides these I am comfortable to other deities also when I visit their places of worship.

I need to elaborate this because we have history of idol worship without real understanding of the spirit behind it . Thanks for affirming the spirit of the post.
