I used to be a werewolf but I'm not nowwwwww

inspired by an actual homeless man

Pshycadelic dreams in
All colours of the rainbow
Keep me company on the daily!

Strange thoughts, curious connections,
Blue lightening sightings in the distance...
Enlighten and connect neurons...
Loosening resistance...
Firing, inspiring, wild, wild pathways!

My mind is alive with
Daydreams for peace and moving pictures of
Silver towns raised from the dust -
Invisible streams of consciousness wake me up
To fresh possibilities.

My earth life melds into
Adventures of a mind which carries me
Into new territories...

None of it compares though
To the story of a homeless man...
---------------------------------------------------

I met a homeless man who
Somehow shared even stranger visions then me?!
He left his home and ran away
Into the forest without a plan...

He spent years sleeping on the forest floor,
Face covered in leeches...
And a mind full of hallucinations
Then one day his sight was restored and he wandered home...

When he returned, he opened his mouth
For the first time in
Ten years!
His words fell out and hit
The fan of
Polite society...
The shiny fan of
Polite society fell apart as
It crashed down and fell
Into disrepair..

Those who knew him well...
Did not despair

For his words ruptured and fractured
The fabric of society...
He walked in
Golden robes and
Left behind stories of kindness...
For some it was a story which
Caused self induced blindness!

His story lives on today...
A homeless man
With a beacon song!
Capturing all of our stories into
One and rendering us
All silent without
Resistance...
Captivated by stories and dreams of a
Peace filled existence.

My what a life we all live
Some in the cravises
Some out in the open
And at some point
You ask

Why do we live?

Dust

for those who have experienced abuse or assault by those in power, including our very earth home

It seems that I
Am never enough
When I'm still...
For they bend me and
Break me to suit their will.

The everlasting dust gets
In my eyes...
It seems as though blue skies
Have fallen, very far behind.

It seems that they all want, is to
Bend me to their will,
For I'm never enough when
I'm still.

I'm never loved unless
I'm bent to their will...

I'm never held unless
I'm bent to break under their
Unobtainable high yields...

I'm never enough when I'm
Still.
Even when I turn to dust...
Covered in dust...
I'm not enough...

They just flood me out and then
Complain that I won't be tamed and
Bent to their will...

It's a shame that I'm
Never enough in your hearts and minds...

I'm just smoke and dust in your eyes.

Hi Joe,

The homeless man who inspired my own creative interpretation was this man, I watched Australian Story about him. https://www.newcastleherald.com.au/s...he-rainforest/

He has written a book about his experiences.

I live a few hours away from where he lived in the rainforest and I have heard stories about him before while on some of my hikes. Fellow travellers who shared stories of seeing him wandering past every now and then looking very skinny.

He had a pretty traumatic start to life.

He works as an advocate for homeless people now.

He went on to University and got a PHD even though he had missed a significant amount of schooling as a kid and scored so low on his tests that the teachers assumed he was stupid.

Apparently when he first met his university lecturer and introduced himself he said his name followed by "I used to be a werewolf, but I'm not nowwwwww". The university lecturer knew that they would get along quite well after that introdution and they went on to become good friends.

Wow, I think your poems are truly getting very good, and the homeless man.

Truly remarkable.

The paths, the journey some people are on. Amazing....

Generation X and Y next-gen undefined.

My mother is Polish and was living on a farm in Poland when the Germans marched in. Then the Russians, and they were all shipped to Siberian labor camps in cattle cars. Her entire family died there except for her and her brother who moved to Australia, she came to Canada and had me and 7 others.

She's still with us, 85 and smart as a whip!

Very good, Nice to see this again as I was searching out some stuff about hermits awhile back and this guy came up so i watched a documentary about his life in which he went to the university as you say and eventually got some lecturing work there too. I think i'll watch the documentary again, nice to revisit these things, maybe go a bit deeper. On a gut level we can see the running away, something i was apt to do myself due to trauma. So on that level alone its interesting that we should want to hide. The spiritual life is also always a turning away from something, from 'normality' or whatever and a turning in .etc. Thanks for sharing...its great that this guy inspired your very nice poem so writing often works like that doesnt it ? We feel inspired by something or someone and off we go. But i also sense you could write like you did about other things too...maybe there are more inspirational things out there ok thanks once again and ciao for now. Joe.

That is incredible Nowayout about your Mother and her story.

I can't even begin to imagine what that must have been like for her!

Weird how we're born into certain family lines, with certain stories that weave through and continue evolving with each generaration...
I have three sisters and we each have such different perspectives about our family story but somehow they all sort of weave together.

Hi, how cool that you too connected to this story some time back. I connected to the trauma experience as well and his story kind of gave me a sense of how resilient the human spirit can be.

I find your reply to be very encouraging. I have always felt quite restricted in my writing, especially on a spiritual website!
I am naturally drawn towards telling all sorts of stories about people and places and experiences which connect us all as human beings experiencing a whole array of colours on an endless spectrum haha.

All the talk of oneness is lovely and comforting and it belongs within the whole story of course... There is a whole big world out there which has so much to share and it's there to draw upon and add to like a moving artwork or something lol.
