Reason, season, lifetime. People come into your life for many different reasons, some stay for a season, some for a lifetime. You are going through a deeply personal period of growth and it is only natural that as you shed the skin of your past, most of your friends from that period will shed with it. Don't try to hold onto them. Appreciate them for their purpose and friendship during that specific time during your journey and allow them to stay there. Do not be afraid to make this transition alone. Before long, new friends and new people will come into your life who are meant to be there to support this growth and the next leg of your journey.

The way I see it, alcohol and smoking doesn't affect a person spirituality, if we're talking about the soul/consciousness. One can develop spiritually, meaning, develop that deep, inner morality and knowledge about self in spite of alcohol and cigarette. Though I think it's a good thing to want your body to function better and longer. It makes for a good healthy body for your soul to evolve in. It's more in the sense of "your body is your temple", treat it with love. I don't smoke, but I do drink sometimes when I'm with friends or I'll have a glass of wine after a good meal cause it's good for the heart.

Anyway, I'm the type of person who loves spending quality time with friends. I think the best thing you can do is seek activities in your field of interest where you can find like minded people.
