My husband was there that day. 39 years ago .

Hard to believe, it all happened in a flash, I was watching World of Sport on ITV with *****ie Davies, when the dreadful news came through. Very very sad indeed. RIP.

Ps. The Bleeper function doesn't like Richard Davies' name lolol

Sir Neil mentioning the disasters and fires of the 80s, reminded me of the Kings Cross Fire (1987), also apparently started by a cigarette end on the escalator. I had just
arrived in London and everybody was allowed to smoke on the tubes and trains.

Hi Joe, yes, I've had that same problem with Richard Davies LOLOL....
But on my goodness , was the kings cross fire in 1987 ? I remember it well of course , and another terrible event , but I didn't realise it was so long ago.
Terrible also to think of it being caused by a discarded cig butt.
And certainly in those days yes, people were allowed to smoke anywhere.
I was in hospital as teen in Leeds general infirmary for 3 weeks and you could sit in your hospital bed puffing your head off . The nurses would come round , take the full ashtray off your bedside table and bring you a clean one !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But yes, the Bradford fire was to awful for words.
At the time I was married to my first husband.
I never ever knew, watching the horror of it on TV as it happened, that somewhere in that crowd was my future husband.
Valley parade is nestled among rows and rows of terraced housing.
And the local residents ( mostly Asian families) were absolutely incredible .
Bless them, they formed queues and lines to keep buckets of water coming. They made so much "sweet tea" for everyone roaming around in shock, brought our blankets and just tried to help as many people as possible wherever they could.
They were really amazing.

Hmmmm. Maybe just as well.
4 nil to City!
Well done to them, but also well done Leeds for getting to the final. Big achievement .

Lol @smoking in Leeds general infirmary, I can imagine you offering the
Doctor a Cigarette, " do you want a light " lolol. My goodness, Bradford was shocking probably because you could see it happening before your eyes on TV,
unbelievable and fair play to the local community for doing everything they could to help AB, I didn't know that, a pure tragedy !! :(
