why so?

Olaf in the movie Frozen said"Love is putting somebody else's needs before yours."
I was taught and trained in this way,just as many people.I have a collegue likes to give his blood to patients,each time he does that he feels so happy ,and he says also more energetic.
I did a lot things to my family,but i feel exhausted.my friend says it is because what i did never been appreciated by my parents.they even never said a simple 'thank u'.
I want to know how to get my energy back even if they blame me a lot?same time they r in sickness, so i still need to take care of them.
If there is a soul map,does it mean my energy is going a wrong direction so i feel exhausted?(sometimes i feel i even don't know who i m)
I also want to know if Love needs appreciation or something in return,it seems a low energy?
The universal energy keeps giving us love and light even if we dislike it sometimes, why we can't become the same?(we r from the Source)
