He ignored me on social media

So I added this guy on social media.... apparently he ignored me.

He was *so* obvious and I can't fathom how I read it wrong, but I give up.

This is so typical. I get excited about something and it ends up being nothing.

Don't feel bad Plum... Years ago I had developed a pretty healthy crush on a coworker who had been extending and reciprocating attention my way... Then I came to find out she was seeing (sleeping with) another coworker of ours around this time... Well that nipped that crush right in the bud, lol...

Did you end up sending him a friend request or whatever? How did you determine he blocked you?

Yes, I did. He didn't block me but he apparently ignored/denied the request. Up until this morning, it showed up under the "Sent Requests" (I could see that I sent it) and if I went on his page, it said "Friend Request Sent". Now it has disappeared from the "Sent Requests" page, and if I go to his profile page, the "Send Friend Request / Friend Request Sent" button is entirely gone and all I can click is "Message", which was there before. Which tells me he denied it. But I can still see his page, so he didn't block me.

Today we were at the grocery store, and I turned around and saw a guy who looked almost exactly like him. Literally made my heart jump out of my chest at first until I realized it wasn't the same guy. And then it turned into irritation. (Quit TEASING me, universe!!!!!!)

EDIT: Also - this guy is a teenager who hasn't been on the website for very long at all, and thus probably doesn't have many friends other than his family. I guess it's possible that he just doesn't want me on there because he doesn't want his family to see it and ask questions, or because he doesn't know me very well yet, or something like that. But I think I'm going to just assume he's not interested unless he tells me otherwise, in person...

You never can really know whats going on in someone else's mind unless they actually tell you.
But I would move on. Kudos to you for putting yourself out there!

Thanks. :) There is no way I read all of that wrong, but.... whatever. This is me giving up.

So now the question is... Do I go to this place (where he will be) with my friend, which also gives him an opportunity to talk to me and explain himself if he so desires? Or do I stay home and not give him a chance, but also not cause any extra energy weirdness?

I have no idea if my presence makes him uncomfortable. Though at the moment I don't really care at all if it upsets him. I can be wherever I want...

The optimistic side of my head says to not read too much into the social media thing, and just go - maybe he'll talk to me.

The rest of my head says forget it - he's not gonna talk to you! Get over it.

I don't know what voice to listen to. haha
