I think it is great you want to develop your abilities more along this route. I did this not too long ago myself in the same exactly way you are. Having known for a while that I could connect with my own loved ones I branched out and started trying to connect and receive information from others.

A couple of things you should know, once you open that door you will NEVER be able to close it. You will have to meditate regularly using all the Psychic Protection techniques. Also, even when you are protected you could still end up with a disruptive energy following you around. There is one in particular attached to a public place that will follow me around interfering with electrical things all around me trying to get me to respond to them. As much as I hate having to brush them off I am not comfortable enough with my ability to do anything more especially in a public place.

If you have the sense of being able to detect beings both living and departed by their life force energy then yes it is as simple as opening a door. It is just pushing your ability to the next level. But that next level changes everything.

I have read that you can ask your guides to help you connect with the other side. I have done so with what I can only assume as no luck. How were you able to tell when you were developing your abilities? I will get really anxious when I have spent a lot of time thinking about it or working on being extra aware, and sometimes its just out of the blue when im at home doing every day things. Then of course I back off until I feel brave again and start digging. could that anxiety be something of significance or just me being a big ole' scaredy cat?
