Islamic law question.

I am at the moment disputing payment to a company and wondered if there is anything in Islamic law where someone can hold a bond of the money until the dispute is resolved? I am not Muslim but I can't seem to find anything in UK law unless it relates to housing and rent bonds , so am a bit stuck.

I only just saw your post, i dont know if i can be of help or not. I hope you have already resolved the problem.

I lived in a Muslim country for over 10 years and rented most of the time. It was always a verbal agreement (not contractual) and the deposit/bond was always used as the last months rent payment. So when you gave notice a month prior you didnt pay rent for the last month.

I dont know if that would be the case if the property had been altered drastically but that was the general rule.
