curiosity
Hi everyone, I am into traditional witchcraft, and have been for around twenty years. I am not Wiccan, but would love to speak with some of you that are and better my understanding of your beliefs and practices. I am also a clairvoyant and an empath and would like to know if anyone else has similar abilities and if so, how does it work with your spells and such.
Thanks in advance
Blessings and light

Hi Mystic Rainbow,
Are you speaking of British Traditional Wicca (BTW - the traditions that were started by the New Forest Coven and Gerald Gardner)? Or are you asking about the Wicca that's practiced in the U.S. by most people today?
Is the tradition that you practice a craft only or does it incorporate a religious side including certain deities, if you don't mind me asking?

I believe in the two gods which are the male and female sides of nature. They don't rule the universe but rather are the universe and everything in it. I am curious about all aspects of Wicca.

I see. Wicca is a tradition started by Gerald Gardner back in the 1950's. He claims to have been a member of the New Forest Coven which, he said, was a coven practicing the old beliefs of Witchcraft but many people have contested this. His tradition is put together from some "old trad" content but a lot of it was "borrowed" from Aleister Crowley, some Celtic practices and other places.
The main tenets of Gardnerian Wicca are: there are two deities - a moon goddess and a horned god. There are eight sabbats: Imbolc, Feb 2; Ostara or the Spring Equinox; Beltane, May 1; Midsummer or Summer Solstice; Lughnasadh, Aug 1; Mabon or Fall Equinox; Samhain, Oct 31 and Yule or the Winter Solstice. Of course, attached to each sabbat are myths and stories. To go into all that would take too much to write in a post.
There are also Full Moon Esbats in which the goddess is worshipped and spell work done. The New Moon is acknowledged, too.
You really need to read a good book or two on the subject to get the whole picture.

Hmmm. Very interesting. Have you any recommendations on books? Thank you for your replies.

If you'd like to read about the original tradition then "A Witches Bible" by Janet and Stewart Farrar is highly recommended. It was one of the first books to include some actual rites and rituals, spells, tools, clairvoyance, astral projection and consecrations and the myths. It's actually two books in one and you really get your money's worth as well as a LOT of information. You could set up a viable practice from the information in it. I think that this is the definitive book on this subject. Too many of the new books are shallow, fluffy bunny stuff and don't go deep enough probably because the authors are lacking in knowledge.
Back then it was an initiatory tradition and one had to be accepted into a coven but things have relaxed since then and these rites can be practiced as a Solitary.
As an aside - would you have any recommendations on books for the old traditional Witchcraft practices you could recommend?

I'm a solo. Also eclectic. I believe in the male and female energy of the universe. I believe the God and Goddess and all of their manifestations are symbols of the male and female energy. Along with that, I believe there is a third neutral energy that permeates the universe. I follow "do what thou wilt, if it harms none" and the rule of three regarding karma.
