My guide is a jerk

Or I'm just thinking he is. I'm sure he's trying to help but it's been in a rather jerk like way.

I think I get what was trying to be said or taught, but that's beside the point right now. I told him to get lost and I didn't want to see him anymore, but he often shows up in dreams as a faceless guy with brown/ash hair and I know it's him.

I don't even know if he's my guide. I have my doubts.

Basically I trusted him and everything he said was wrong or the opposite happened. It just makes me reaffirm a belief that I can't trust people, and if anything I am trying to not be that bitter, angry, untrusting person, especially when I saw myself going down that path.

But that doesn't mean I can just let people walk over me and be jerks and liars, even those that only appear in dreams. I'd like to think I try to be the best I can be, even if I'm not there yet and I know that "perfection" is an illusion. I just can't have a shady jerk as a guide.

If that's the way it's going to be I'd rather have no guide. I don't know how much influence they've had in my life but after that debacle I'd like to think I'd be better off without, and I can do a better job, at least, in being me.

Maybe that's the whole point. I don't know.

That doesn't mean I am OK with it.

Greetings Ragdoll,

Well, let's clear this up at the start: Your guide is no 'jerk'!

He or she not only love you but knows more about you than you do. He or she is helping you in the only way they can: by not running your life for you.

Our three dimensional Planet Earth is dominated by that great universal law of Freewill. So it is your perspective on life and the way you run it, and nobody else, that brings you all the troubles you detest so much.

And whether you like it or not, and no matter how many names you may call your guide, and no matter how many times you tell your guide to get lost he, she or they never will and they will never let you down.

When we are young and need to cross the road we are taught to: STOP ... LOOK ... and LISTEN. Which is also good spiritual advice.

STOP complaining about your life,

LOOK and see how you can change it for the better,

LISTEN to what the world is trying to tell you.

And you'll find the world is a much better place than you thought.

Not all spirits who claim to be guides are honest. The fake are however fairly easy to spot, being generally mean and foulmouthed even if they appear to be protective. Which sounds like the one you have. He need to be sent off permanently, if you ever want to be with your real guide.

To clear up, Jonty, I received response regarding questions I had asked, and while he was never foul mouthed or mean, he through his answers led me to believe things that were not true, to do things that didn't work out for me or even bit me in the butt (not life threatening, but things that got me in trouble at work, etc), and even believe I was talking to angels. I.e. the action steps he advised me to take did not work out the way he told me they would, for instance, going to HR about certain problems I was having at work, I ended up getting disciplinary action and now I'M the one on probation, while my concerns were pretty much ignored. He had told me that I would be getting a promotion. Another example, he told me that an apartment I was looking at was bad for me as the landlord was sketchy, so I passed. I would not have if he hadn't suggested otherwise.

Is this a lesson in don't trust others? Trust myself? I dunno. Everyone seems to have great experiences with guides being great people. Now I'm put off to all of it and am thinking I made it all up in my head somehow, or he wasn't a guide at all.

Oh, my...couldn't help but grin when I read your thread title!
(Sounded like something one of my failing students would write about me!)

I agree with the other posters: if you're being led astray, the information you're receiving is not from your guide. Ask for only those of the light to be able to enter your sphere of protection.

Hmm certainly does not sound like a guide. Trust your guts on this. The fact that you mentioned you had doubts waves red flags about your instinct trying to warn you about this spirit. Tell him to go away and if you feel him around just ignore. He/she will soon get the message.

I agree with this.

And I agree with WhiteWarrior, who posted: "Not all spirits who claim to be guides are honest. The fake are however fairly easy to spot, being generally mean and foulmouthed even if they appear to be protective."

I have a realitive who's been dealing with a spirit like this... derogatory, inappropriate, mean-spirited, un-useful commentary.

Perhaps what you are experiencing in your life now is part of the life lessons your soul came to learn. Who's to say... the results/outcome of your situation could benefit you or have a positive effect on your life. Don't be so quick to judge-time will tell. Our guides know what we need even when we don't. IMO

In peace...Lilybugs
