This is what I saw as well, the same. It isn't different. If I had to choose a different word it would be learning. That is the ego learns such as learning about ignorance or learning about falsehoods and learning about and in doing or what ego does.
We're here to learn and learn through and even because of the ego. What is experienced, what the ego does and what the ego creates. Ego is necessary because we experience through the lens and perspective of ego sees and what ego tells us as I. Ego is aware. Many times we try to break down the ego. Ego seeks balance and harmony of self and that balance can be positive or negative. Everyone knows the experiences self feels. Ego satisfies itself, works toward happiness. It's said spiritually we have the need to experience if we are to move forward. I even think free-will has a part to play in ego. Should we review ego, can it be?
One of the causes not mentioned is, we were given ego by creator. Therefore is there a purpose to it. Just wanted to mention and ask that.
Ego is I and ego has its' own opinion. Ego is relative to the physical world because it affects what and how we create. Another cause of ego is we create it. Ego makes choices in the state it (I) is in.
