ADD or ADHD?
Having grown up with ADD way before there was a term of it, I am always interested in advancement in treatments.
On the news the other day they had Susan McCrossin to interview who has a degree in psychology and an advanced degree in neuroscience. She has developed a technique for treating dyslexia, ADD and ADHD without drugs. I thought I'd put this information in your hands so you can research it yourself if you are interested.

Your grandson will always have ADHD, he will just find coping mechanisms to help him appear normal. Having a supportive loving family is half the battle
If you want really understand him I suggest the book Driven to Distraction; Recognizing and Coping with Attention Deficit Disorder from Childhood through Adulthood by Edward M. Hallowell, M.D., and John J. Ratey, M.D. There are newer books out there but this is my go-to book. And, it's an easy read. You will find Nick on every page.

Struggled with ADD most of my life. It was much worse when i was a child, and early adulthood. Its very easy to get discouraged watching everyone progressing so much faster. You get upset with yourself not knowing what's going on with you. Exercise helps a lot, as well as finding something your passionate about. People with ADD need lots of positive motivation and patience. I use to be on medication but stopped.
