Lost In Life

We are spinning in a whirl-wind of reality and memories of the past
And, as the two begin to merge, it is hard to distinguish what is really truth
Our heightened state of consciousness swirls us onto distant, yet somewhat familiar shores
But we must continue to walk towards the far off sound of music - our life long goal to reach
The path is long and dangerous but we must carry on, for we simply cannot fall
We look up to the stars and ask the unanswerable questions, trying to understand why
We sit on lonely hilltops, pondering and watching the world go by
Until, at last we realize, we must look within ourselves to understand
We have had the answer all along but we lost ourselves in the midst of this life
And forgot to seek in the only place that no other can go, within our souls.
