I keep hearing my name when I listen to a certain song.

I had to stop listening to a song I love, because I started to hear a young girl calling my name in it.

I looked up the lyrics at one point and none of them could possibly sound like my name. My name isn't that common.

Can someone listen to the song "Wicked Ways" by the band Garbage?

Tell me if you hear anything that might resemble someone's name. I'm not going to say what my name is, because that might trigger confirmation bias.

I just want to know why I keep hearing my name from that song. I don't want to stop listening to it forever.

I just had a listen with my studio headphones on, and there are no discernable names jumping out at me while listening...

How many times do you hear a name while listening? Is there a specific point in the song where you can identify that you are hearing this?

If you use this Youtube recording, can you tell me at what exact times in the recording you are hearing something?

Thanks....

Background lyrics/vocals sound creepy around 2:50 and on. Bit of gibberish vocal range tones.

Edit: Around 1:52 I may hear a Lauren or Laurie?

@Wolfgaze: I am hearing something at 1:52 and 2:52.

@Clover: I paid more attention to what I was hearing and I think Lauren is it. Lauren isn't my name, but at least I know I'm not hallucinating the voice now. I'm just not sure why I hear it and very few other people do.

Ah. Gotcha. For the record, I didn't listen to the whole song, mainly because my ears are very sensitive to this type of music (sharp treble sounds). I did instinctively felt led to that specific area, call it divinity for your confirmation at play.

Fun exercise. Thanks for sharing.

Maybe it's clairaudience starting to develop. I had the same thing happen to me when my Kundalini started to awaken. It happened a lot with the Prince song "I Would Die 4 U." The song has spiritual allusions, as does Garbage's "Wicked Ways." I think it may be a sign that the universe is with you on your spiritual path. Unfortunately, although I love music, I can't listen to it the way I used to because it can get too distracting and clutter my head. If it gets to be too much for you, give music a break for awhile, hard as it may be. Also, see if it happens while listening to any other songs.

Some years ago I switched over to predominantly listening to Classical music - much more soothing/relaxing in its tonal qualities and also easier on my mind (no lyrics to process).....

Same here, although it's been an acquired taste for me.

That's possible. I have had it happen with other songs actually. I've gotten used to it, but I always wondered what I was dealing with. At one point I thought it might be hallucinations. However, medication didn't block them out, so that gave me reason to believe it was something else.

I'm not sure when songs started doing this for me. I was pretty young, but I was at least 13. I find that sometimes I have to sit in complete silence to recharge my toleration level for sounds. It's fascinating that I have to do this, because I didn't have to do this when I was younger. In fact, when I was younger, I used to listen to music at horrid levels of loudness. My parents would have to tell me to turn it down and eventually I started to agree with them as my ears started to become more sensitive to what I listening to.

That's what I thought! I thought I was hallucinating; I was also on medication when it started. After becoming obsessed with listening over and over, trying to figure out what all I was being told by these voices, I had no choice but to cut music out of my life for awhile. I used to listen to my iPod every day; now, I go months sometimes without using it. And like you said, I have a very low tolerance for loud noises now. Don't freak out too much about it; the voice is proof that you are in touch with your spiritual side. Maybe not listen to music as much or, like wolfgaze said, try some instrumental music sometimes.
