Sungazing

I understand that sungazing is a pretty powerful meditation activity but recently I've learned, supposedly, you can eliminate your need for food after a prolonged time of consistent practice. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with this?

Disclaimer: Don't run outside and stare into the sun, there are rules to practicing safely without impacting your eyesight. :)

There is information on the internet on sun gazing. Basically you look at the sun just before it dips beyond the horizon at sunset increasing your gazing time in minuscule increments over the period of years. I've only heard of Indian Yogis who were able to eliminate the need for food after devoting their entire life to the practice.

Getting outdoors and getting sunshine is a healthy habit for a majority of people. When our bare skin meets sunlight, it absorbs Vitamin D(which is good for mood and health). Vitamin D deficiency can create many health problems.
In regards to sun gazing(staring at the Sun directly), I would recommend taking a cautious approach, as an overexposure of sunlight to eyes and skin can be deleterious to a persons well-being.

Actually you consume vitamin D3 and when you go outside you absorb vitamin D4 which will release your vitamin D3 and convert it.

Kind of like planting a seed and watering it.

Interesting... I did not realize... Therefore, eating something with a healthy amount of D3, then going outside and having it released via the absorption of d4 will help me reap these benefits? Moreover, what type of foods contain D3?

For me, it's really more about meditating facing that direction as a way for Centering yourself or acheinving a state of Inner Stillness. I don't go outside to do it. I just use an app called Skyview Free. Whenever I meditate or practice yoga, I do it facing that direction, or the direction of the Moon.

When we meditate, we're supposed to close our eyes, anyway. But if you prefer to do it outside, the concentration of prana is highest at Sunrise or Sandhi, when the Sun is just rising.
