Help-what was this experience

Hello I have been viewing and reading here for a while but had to register and ask about what happened to me yesterday. I have known and become friends/possibly more with someone and we have been communicating for 8 to 10 months. We are both strong empaths, highly sensitive to energy around us/others energy him even more than me, and I channel as well. We are also seperated physically by a very large distance, I am in Wiscons in the US and he is in Ireland. Yesterday we were having an online conversation unrelated to anything of this nature on Yahoo messenger, we were also using a music sharing program to listen to music together. Out of nowhere while we were talking and listening to music we both went into what felt like a trance like state, it was not done consciously it just happened unexpectedly. I am going to try to explain what happened during it because it was very vivid but some parts are a complete blur as well. There was an energy exchange between us, he felt my energy throughout his whole body, I felt his energy through out mine, we both felt the energy strongly and for both of us it felt like the energies (his and mine) blended and joined together. He began having images and thoughts flooding his head, all of them were things in my life, places in my life, and my thoughts. He also said he felt like he was in a different plane/realm while that was happening. I had the same thing happen to me. I also felt him sending energy to me that was of a positive and healing nature, and I did the same to him which he felt as well. All of the energy flow and literally feeling like we were in each others heads experiencing thoughts, feelings and emotions of the other person became very intense. It also lead to both of us experiencing very intense and strong feelings of a sexual nature. There was also a physical reaction as well, we were both having the sensation of the physical body being very cold but some of the chakra energy centers being warm and tingling, expecially the forehead/third eye area. I have no idea how long it lasted, there was no sense of time, we were both fully able to continue typing on the computer as well, we were telling each other what we were experiencing as it happened. After a while we both had to force ourselves to pull back and "tie off" the connection. Afterwards we were both exhausted and we both had to take a nap, but even asleep we both continued to fell the energy of each other joined with our own but the other things has stopped. Upon awakening everything was completely "normal". We were both drawn to each other from the moment we met and have always had a very strong empathic bond between us that connects us but nothing like this has ever happened between us, or individually with another person. I honestly have no idea what to call what happened but it was the single most intimate connection either of us have felt. I am wondering if anyone can tell me what it was, he thought astral projection but I am not sure. Can anyone help me out with this???

and I am sorry it is so long but I was trying to be as specific as possible with the very vivid parts I do remember since some was a complete blur.

I am not sure what this is exactly. I have experienced it, and other people who write on this forum have too. Sometimes people "click" and these things happen. One term I have heard is telepathic merge, which I suppose works. It could be a form of astral projection (and in this case astral sex) that involves remote presence/sensing/viewing and telepathy. Check out the Soulmates & Twin Flames thread on this forum. Most of the posts there don't include this type of experience (of a more paranormal nature) that you just described, but some do.
