PS...also I have heard some say that they believe you must practice a certain religion to get into yoga??? Who ever told them that, IDK????
Usually I think it is those who know the least that begin to talk out both sides of their mouth about it...LOL

thanks for your caring comments.
I am not sure about the practice of religion and yoga
but if I may add
that perhaps there are many ideas of religion
some not so dogmatic as we view it.
I met a master in India and he was burning with religious fever
and all his disciples followed the ritual part
and I often heard him say
that religion is the way out
but you see
his idea of religion
was not at all about the ritual part.
just to place a different way of looking at things

I have written all that I know and experience in the subject matter, we call yoga. There are many ways I could talk about this subject
but mind you.. it will be in circles..
If there is a particular question or subject within this vast field you will like to discuss please let me know.

All that difficulty is part of the path. I wonder if people realize that yoga has more aspects to benefit you on the mat and off it? Its a total path of well being, not just exercise and relaxation. There is guidance for self reflection and personal growth as well. Practicing the yamas and niyamas is part of relaxing the mind and body on the mat. Hmm

well said.
If I may add,
try not to introduce words such as
"All that difficulty is part of the path"
cause then we limit ourselves into thinking that it has to be difficult.
not at all
be open
allow it to flow
focus on relaxing
if there is anything to be done
by the human mind
it is just that
relax
relax
relax
now feel
it is there
it always was
one all pervading ever present
consciousness

I"m bummed out my back and neck and shoulder hurt so bad I can't swim yoga or anything can't move can't drive.
i'm so deprssed about it....

Hi eptah,
I am in my first week of a workout program called P90X. The 4th day (yesterday) was yoga. 90 minutes of none stop asana's and other types of poses. It is like you said...the body seems to need time to adjust before the mind experience and the body experience can become one. I found your post timely and helpful...thank you very much. Especially this part:
Think of it like.. you need some preparing time
so that the body can actually handle
the shift
So what to do till then?
invite the mind and the intellect
when you are in an asana
work towards finding relaxation in the pose
this will get rid of the opposing force of tension.
when the body starts to relax
become aware of your body relaxing
that is THE KEY
My reaction when done with this routine (and I have never done yoga before) was how awesome the contrast was magnified between the yang of difficult asana's to the yin of cooling down at the end and doing corpse like poses.
That really jumped out at me and it was cool. It was like I could really grasp that......there cannot be one without the other. Yin and Yang.

OKay so I do about 4 hours of yoga a week, about 1 hour and 40 minutes of fast paced walking a week, and about 2 to three hours of swimming a week and I've not lost weight HELP HELP HELP.
