One must heal the outside?

Can I ask spiritually does anyone know what it means to heal the outside? I had a message from a Buddha who told me I must heal the outside before the inner? I have been in isolation through my journey, it was the only way for me.. working inwards and outwards like a wound heals…

It's a great idea to take care of basic things and have good exercise, nutrition and proper sleep. That has very positive effects on emotional condition as well.

In Buddhism there's a phrase 'internally and externally' but the scholars have different interpretations and no one knows what it really means. I wouldn't worry about that. I'd take care of the basics such as diet, exercise, sleep and a bit of daily meditation for spirituality. That's bound to be beneficial and result in positive outcomes.

I would say this.

Everything outside of you can be a healing process within you. If you’ve been isolated you may start seeing things in the world around you that activate you more so. So you can use them as reflections, look at yourself more present and aware of what might require healing through those things. Never underestimate that your inner healing can become a catalyst outside of you ‘at times’..whether that’s through conversations, family, mending, melding however it might play out.

As an example, you may be required to set boundaries, speak your truth to someone, let go of someone..those direct experiences at times do sometimes play out first, then your inner healing is supported.

Our inner voice sometimes becomes a pre warning of what might come to be. It’s a good thing you have it clear. It’s a very supportive tool.

The external is important, in my view. By external, I mean our thoughts, words and actions. It generates a feel good factor to visualise noble qualities or to pray or meditate for a while and so forth but unless we translate the Satvik* (illumined, pure) qualities into moment to moment lived reality, surely no true transformation is actuated.

To live authentically, the inner and outer must match. Otherwise, we are in a state of chaos, of head vs heart conflict, misaligned with pulse of conscience.

Thank you so much for the replies, this makes so much sense, who I have discovered my true self inside, I am not expressing outwards due to obstacles in reality, so I must deal with the obstacles to be my true self outwards, many thanks.

Recognize to how powerful the outside often is and used and influences what we do to even affect and change what is within. Respect it. The outside is the expression and is always in agreement sometimes using the outside for doing. The outside is what is observed. I think the outside is what we observe in terms of self. The outside a mirror that reflects and can be used.

That makes a lot of sense.

The transition through this awareness, becomes almost like a practice itself.

In the beginning there was ‘who am I?’

Now it becomes ‘I am’ and that can bring about a whole new set of expressions and actions of being the ‘real you’.

My partner struggled for a while because he moved through a fast manifestation of old and new, it landed him quite quickly into life more authentically himself and he became aware how everything outside him, that once was as his old self applied, was suddenly no longer the same so he literally had to practice being himself more authentically. He thought the external was the problem, but really he had to get very comfortable being a different person around others who only knew him as the ‘role’ he was often playing.

Me in the other hand integrated, longer deeper and overturned every stone so it was a slower integration mostly. I understand the steps more closely in this way, so I was able to support him aware.

I would think it means to work on protection and boundaries. No point healing a wound if your not first protected from the source of the damage.
