Elizabeth Clare Prophet was certainly influenced by Theosophy; she and her husband Mark (who died in 1973) taught about the Ascended Masters, including the Masters of Theosophy. But she created her own brand of teaching which would not be recognised as being Theosophy. And naturally her teachings placed herself in an elevated position with several distinguished previous incarnations.

No doubt her followers gained something from practising her violet flame meditations, but I always found it difficult to take her seriously.

Peace

No, not at all. Theosophy is best expressed & taught by Blavatsky, William Q Judge, G. de Purucker and their disciples.

Meditation, abstinence in all, the observation of moral duties, gentle thoughts, good deeds and kind words, as goodwill to all and entire oblivion of Self, are the most efficacious means of obtaining knowledge and preparing for the reception of higher wisdom.

A high development of the intellectual faculties does not imply spiritual and true life. The presence in one of a highly developed human, intellectual soul (the fifth principle, or Manas), is quite compatible with the absence of Buddhi, or the spiritual soul. Unless the former evolves from and develops under the beneficent and vivifying rays of the latter, it will remain for ever but a direct progeny of the terrestrial, lower principles, sterile in spiritual perceptions; a magnificent, luxurious sepulchre, full of the dry bones of decaying matter within. Many of our greatest scientists are but animate corpses – they have no spiritual sight because their spirits have left them, or, rather, cannot reach them. So we might go through all ages, examine all occupations, weigh all human attainments, and investigate all forms of society, and we would find these spiritually dead everywhere.

in #305, I suppose it might be appropriate to think of such people as puppets on strings? Just going with the wind, whichever way it blows?

It crosses my mind that this would make them essentially meaningless. If they have no volition other than to blow with the winds, what use are they?

the book of revelation said something about, a certain people have a reputation for being very much alive, and yet, despite their reputation, they are very much dead.

Anyway one interesting thing that could happen, if there were a benevelont being or beings pulling the puppet strings, is that such winds could be blown in favor of supporting those who are awake enough not to be acting like puppets on a string all the time.

But it would be hard to understand, that all the seemingly bad things that happen and that we want to stop happening, and again all the good things we want and can't quite get to, might be the result of benevolent winds. It might take a certain amount of faith...

How "The Hero in Man" article begins:

Quote:
There sometimes comes on us a mood of strange reverence for people
and things which in less contemplative hours we hold to be unworthy;
and in such moments we may set side by side the head of Christ and
the head of an outcast, and there is an equal radiance around each,
which makes of the darker face a shadow and is itself a shadow
around the head of light. We feel a fundamental unity of purpose in
their presence here, and would as willingly pay homage to the one
who has fallen as to him who has become a master of life. I know that
immemorial order decrees that the laurel and the crown be given only
to the victor, but in those moments I speak of a profound intuition
changes the decree and sets the aureole on both alike.

We feel such deep pity for the fallen that there must needs be a
justice in it, for these diviner feelings are wise in themselves and do
not vaguely arise. They are lights from the Father. A justice lies in
uttermost pity and forgiveness, even when we seem to ourselves to be
most deeply wronged; or why is it that the awakening of resentment
or hate brings such swift contrition?
