Mysticism, Mental Illness & Complex Trauma
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xb0dIKBozxM
Published on 13 Aug 2015
For Beyond 50's "Spirituality" talks, listen to an interview with Mark Lesniewski. An Oregon resident, he has a background in seminary studies, Spiritual Direction training, Clinical Pastoral Education, and a Master's degree in Contemplative Psychotherapy. According to Lesniewski, some people who were close to Jesus thought he was crazy. Same with Francis of Assisi. And what do you make of a prince (now know as the Buddha) who leaves his palace and family and, early on, lives a life of extreme asceticism in a forest? All three master mystics pointed us to more sane ways of living together. How would we handle them today? Last year "USA Today" published a series of articles called, "The Cost of Not Caring." One particular article was subtitled, "The Financial and Human Cost of Neglecting the Mentally Ill." What does this neglect say about our collective spiritual health, and what affect might it have if we changed our perspective about mystics, the mentally ill, and trauma victims, especially if we see what they, and we, all have in common? Tune in to Beyond 50: America's Variety Talk Radio Show on the natural, holistic, green and spiritual lifestyle. Visit www.Beyond50Radio.com and sign up for our Exclusive Updates.

Shamanic Spiritual Emergencies: The Dialectic of Distress and Spirituality, with Dr. Ingo Lambrecht
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crqeauJI2bg
Published on 10 Apr 2017
Throughout shamanic history, extreme states have been configured in relation to states of distress and spirituality. It is however not clear to what extent these states are separated, the same or if integration is at all possible.
This presentation explores the different positions possible when faced with psychotic distress and spirituality. It draws on the presenter’s experiences during his shamanic training. It considers some indigenous and current models and interventions of spiritual emergencies.
Bio:
Dr. Ingo Lambrecht is a consultant clinical psychologist working at Manawanui, Māori Mental Health Service in Auckland, New Zealand. His special interests include children and adolescents, psychosis and personality issues, as well as trauma and mindfulness. He has also written on the cultural-clinical interface through clinical and psychoanalytic work in different cultural settings, and was privileged to undergo an intense shamanic training as a sangoma, a South African traditional healer. In addition to his recent book, Sangoma Trance States (AM Publishing, 2014), he has contributed articles and chapters on the relationships between culture, psychosis, and spirituality, presenting at national and international conferences on these themes.

Society is the enemy that makes life with mental health difficulty unbearable, not us
The enemy in mental health is assuming we’re the problem. We must learn to stop apologising to the enemy for suffering at the hand of its indifference.

Before going to hospital I had this halucination "c'me here' on an authoritative tone. My mind was focused on not reacting. I hear this a lot in the house. People in reality calling my name in the same way. I guess there is an impression in my head that I have just to run away. My guts tell me right. Being safe and avoiding danger is important. People that are as voices in my head. I think they really don't wish the best of life.
And in hospital I had the worse experience with a guy saying 'come here' . And I remembered the voices. That person made me very angry and anxious and afraid.
I just see it as on a simulator. Person isn't responding because sometimes does things so mechanically that eventually won't even want to respond or come there
I don't take medication for side effects reasons.

Drug Company Dominance Makes Some Shrinks Very Rich, and Many Patients Over Drugged
This has been a long time coming at such a level - & it's an issue / debate that is Not going to go away.
Psychiatry has a real credibility problem on its hands.
By Bruce E. Levine / AlterNet
Finally, people at the top admitting that psychiatry is just scientism (i.e., pseudo-science):
“When Insel states that the disorders haven’t been validated,” Whitaker points out, “he is stating that the entire edifice that modern psychiatry is built upon is flawed, and unsupported by science... If the public loses faith in the DSM, and comes to see it as unscientific, then psychiatry has a real credibility problem on its hands.”

"This is one of a series of dialogues between J Krishnamurti, David Bohm, Rupert Sheldrake and John Hidley. The purpose of these discussions is to explore essential questions about the mind: what is psychological disorder and what is required for fundamental psychological change."
